How To Shut Down A Wordpress Blog

Overview

This guide will show you how to add a site for your Managed WordPress service.

Requirements

For your domain to properly resolve to your Managed WordPress site, you will need to ensure that your domain is pointed to (mt) nameservers or you can point an A record to an IP address on your Managed WordPress service.

NOTE
Make sure you add the domain in your Account Center before adding the site in the Managed WordPress panel. Please see this article for details.

Instructions

Create site

Log into your Account Center.
C lick on the ADMIN button for your Managed WordPress service.
Click Add new site in the Managed WordPress control panel.
You will be asked to choose to create a new site or import one from another source. Choose Create A Site .

NOTE
If you have reached the maximum number of sites for your service, you will not see this option. You will need to remove an existing site to add a new site. Please see the instructions below if you need to remove a site.
In the next screen, you will be asked to choose a site name and create your WordPress administrator account.
You will be asked if you wish to choose a custom theme. You can select Yes or No at this point. For this scenario, we will be choosing Yes and selecting one of Media Temple's pre-built themes named Daily Journal.

CAUTION:

If you are using a custom theme, you will want to make sure the subfolder containing the theme has the same name as the .zip file containing that folder. For example, if your theme is in a ZIP archive named example.zip, you would want the theme to be contained in the example folder within that archive.
Select the theme you wish to use and click Continue .
Once you've chosen your theme, you will be provided with a confirmation screen that details all of the settings you've chosen for your new WordPress site. If everything looks correct, click Finish .
At this point, WordPress will begin installing. We've included a small game to pass the time while this process completes.
When the site is done installing you will be given the option to proceed to the control panel for your new WordPress site.
That's it. Your WordPress site is now setup and you can begin adding new posts and content!

Deleting a Managed WordPress Site
